The International Board for Regression Therapy

is the first non-profit independent examining and certifying board for Past Life Therapists and Training Programs in Regression Therapy.

Regression Therapy, also called Past Life Therapy or Past Life Regression Therapy, is client-centered. It focuses on the discovery of the origins of a client's problem in a past life “story.”

Goals and Objectives

The Specific Goals of the International Board for Regression Therapy are:

1. To enact an appropriate set of standards or guiding principles for the practice of PLT and to seek adherence to these standards by all PLT therapists and practitioners.

2. To establish the minimum criteria for individual board certification by IBRT, to encourage qualified practitioners to undergo the certification process and, upon meeting these criteria, to issue documentation attesting to the individual's certification by the Board.

3. To evaluate schools and programs that provide training in PLT to ensure that:

  • the quality, depth and duration of the training is sufficient to meet the minimum standards, and
  • it is being provided by IBRT certified facilitators who demonstrate the qualifications and experience needed to conduct such training.

4. To support the professional growth and development of PLT.

5. To promote the understanding and acceptance of PLT by the public and other helping professions as an effective and legitimate healing modality.

IBRT’s Purpose

The International Board for Regression Therapy was founded in New York in 1999, to establish professional standards and practices in the field of Past Life Therapy (PLT) and Past Life Regression Training Programs.

For more than 20 years, we have used these standards to evaluate the qualifications of practitioners and the quality of training programs in Regression Therapy.

Individuals who meet the high standards and practices in a professional and ethical manner are recognized as IBRT Board Certified. Past Life Training Programs that comply with the criteria receive accreditation from the International Board for Regression Therapy.

In addition, we promote the growth and development of the field of Regression Therapy.

Plus we educate the public and other helping professions about Past Life Therapy as an effective and legitimate healing modality.

IBRT Membership Categories

IBRT offers three membership categories: two for individual members and one for training programs in Regression Therapy:

Individual Members

  • Board Certified Regression Therapist Membership is for practitioners trained in Past Life Therapy who have been awarded Board Certified status through IBRT’s rigorous examination process.
  • Affiliate Membership is for practitioners in allied fields or those interested in exploring the field of Regression Therapy. This category includes past life therapists not yet Board certified, alternative healthcare practitioners, acupuncturists, massage therapists, chiropractors, psychiatrists, ministers, coaches, spiritual guides and other allied fields.
  • Sponsored School Membership. IBRT grants  a Sponsored Student Membership to all currently enrolled students at  any  one of the  IBRT sponsored and accredited Regression Training Schools and Programs. This free Membership begins with enrollment and is for one year or extends to graduation if the program is longer than a year.

For Schools and Training Programs in Past Life Regression

  • Accreditation for those programs that offer in-person or on-line training in Regression Therapy worldwide.

A Rapidly Evolving Field

Past Life Therapy is a rapidly evolving and dynamic field. It embraces many disciplines, both traditional and non-traditional. It is becoming more and more accepted by both the clientele it serves and the other helping professions, as well.

Professionalism

One of the most important hallmarks of a true profession is the establishment of ethical standards for its practice and the recognition of practitioners who have met those standards through an objective evaluative process.

Recognition

Recognition may take many forms: letters of reference or recommendation attesting to an individual's skills and competencies, certificates of completion of a course of study, state or national registration or licensure, or the attainment of certification through meeting the requirements of a professional Board of Examiners which sets certain criteria and requirements which, when met, lead to the issuance of certification.

The Need for Standards

The field of Past Life Therapy is entering the mainstream of the helping professions and its practitioners now need to take those steps which signify that it has, indeed, become a legitimate therapeutic modality. Practitioners of PLT need to demonstrate that they have met a set of standards for its practice and have undertaken to provide appropriate documentation of their preparation, and to adhere to an acceptable set of ethical standards of practice.
